Hamburg

Hamburgs originated in northern Europe, both spangled and black varieties have been bred for more than 300 years in England. Hamburgs are stylish and graceful birds with a rose comb and white ear lobes. They are small yet active and they are particularly good fliers. Thanks to their excellent foraging ability they do well in backyard and free-range settings, but they perform poorly in close confinement. The breed is known for cold-hardiness. Hens are early to mature and prolific layers of relatively small eggs. They dont tend to go broody. Silver Spangled Hamburgs are white with a large black spot at the end of each feather, while Gold Spangled Hamburgs are a rich mahogany colour with the same black spots
